Privacy Policy — Compass
Last updated: September 2026
1. Introduction
This policy explains how Compass handles information when you use its travel planning features and contact support. It covers the Compass iOS app and related account services. The personal website has a separate website privacy policy.
2. Information We Collect
Compass processes account and profile information, the travel content you save, collaboration and sharing records, and subscription status. The information involved depends on the features you use. Infrastructure providers also process technical request information needed to deliver their services, such as IP addresses and service logs.
3. Information You Provide
You may provide a name, email address, profile image, home airport and travel preferences (Travel DNA). Travel content includes visited countries, bucket list entries, trips, dates, itinerary items, attractions, transport, accommodation, notes, budgets and expenses. You can attach images, documents and tickets to trips. Support messages contain the information you choose to send. Avoid including unnecessary sensitive information about yourself or other travelers.
4. Information Generated Through Use of Compass
Using Compass creates records such as account identifiers, content creation and update times, trip memberships, invitations, sharing settings and achievements derived from your travel activity. Subscription services provide purchase and entitlement status so Compass can determine which paid features are available to your account.
5. How We Use Information
Information is used to sign you in, save and synchronize your plans, personalize travel preferences, display maps and travel history, enable sharing and collaboration, recognize achievements, provide paid features and respond to support requests. Information may also be needed to investigate service failures, prevent misuse and meet applicable legal obligations.
6. Authentication
Compass uses Supabase authentication with Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In. The chosen provider supplies an identity identifier and the profile information authorized through sign-in, which may include your name and email address. Apple may provide a private relay email address. Compass does not receive your Apple or Google account password.
7. Subscriptions and Payments
Apple processes purchases through the App Store. Compass uses RevenueCat to associate subscription status and purchase entitlements with your account. Purchase-related records may include product identifiers, transaction identifiers, subscription dates and entitlement status. Compass does not receive your payment card number from App Store purchases.
8. Maps and Location
Compass stores destinations, place details and coordinates associated with the travel plans you save. MapKit / Apple Maps and, where enabled, Google place services process map or place requests. Opening a location or route in Google Maps sends the selected destination or route to that service. Location access in an external maps app is governed by that app’s permissions and privacy policy; a saved trip location is not necessarily your current device location.
9. Collaboration and Shared Content
When you invite collaborators or share an itinerary, other people can access the content made available through that feature and its permissions. Review the details before sharing, especially documents, travel dates and information about other people.
Links and QR codes can be forwarded. Published itineraries may reach a wider audience. PDF exports and copies saved by recipients are outside Compass’s control, and withdrawing access does not remove those copies.
10. Third-Party Service Providers
Compass uses Supabase for authentication, database and storage infrastructure; RevenueCat for subscription status and purchase entitlements; Apple for Sign in with Apple, App Store transactions and map services; and Google for Google Sign-In, place services and map/navigation handoffs where enabled. These providers process information needed for their respective services.
Providers’ own privacy information is available from Supabase, RevenueCat, Apple and Google.
11. Data Sharing
Information is disclosed to service providers to operate the features described above, to other users or recipients when you share content, and when necessary to respond to lawful requirements or protect users and the service. Providing information to an infrastructure or payment provider is distinct from selling it. Any additional disclosure should be explained to you before the relevant feature is used.
12. Data Retention
Account and travel records are kept to provide the service while you use your account. Deletion requests are subject to records that need to be retained for applicable legal obligations, security or dispute handling. Provider backups and transaction records may follow separate retention processes. Contact support for information about the records associated with your account; this policy does not promise an unverified deletion deadline.
13. Account and Data Deletion
For account deletion assistance, contact support using the address below.
Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Manage your subscription separately in your Apple account. Copies you have shared or exported to other people may remain with those recipients.
Deletion removes account-associated application data through the account deletion process. If a request fails, contact support so the failure can be investigated; do not assume deletion completed after an error.

Compass uses authenticated access and service access controls to protect account information. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your sign-in accounts secure, be careful with shared links and notify support if you suspect unauthorized access.
15. International Data Transfers
Service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. The applicable protections depend on the provider, processing location and legal arrangements. You can contact support to ask where your information is processed and which safeguards apply.
16. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. You may also have the right to complain to a local data protection authority. Contact support to make a request. Identity verification may be needed to protect your account, and applicable legal exceptions may limit a request.
17. Children’s Privacy
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact support so the account and information can be reviewed. The minimum age and any parental-consent requirements must be confirmed before this policy is published.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Updates will appear on this page with a revised last-updated date. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law.
